Notes

Searches the public for-sale category in the SF Bay Area only. query is free-text search, such as bicycle or piano. Search can match listing descriptions, so every title need not contain the query.

The returned listings are the server-rendered result set. Ranking, inventory and prices can change. Large responses are capped at 20,000 characters; inspect truncated and treat the result as partial. Pagination, other areas and contact information are not covered. Listing URLs are public references and can expire. No account or imported cookies are required.

getListing takes the two final path components from a URL returned by search: slug, then reference. The reference is an opaque public URL identifier, not the numeric post id. Keep both components from the same listing. Listings can expire; a missing listing is not an empty search result.

The details are the signed-out HTML fallback. Item prose and description metadata are omitted because they can include contact text. Attributes omit serial numbers. Images are public image links present in the document; none are fetched. The location label is optional seller-supplied area text, not a verified address. No coordinates, seller identity or contact controls are included.

About these operations

Each operation is a request learned from Craigslist's own web pages: API Anything replays it over plain HTTP and falls back to a browser when it must. Read them as JSON.
